Easter Raffle, April 2012
In addition to our usual meat tray raffles being sold on a Thursday night at the Terrey Hills Tavern we also held
an
Easter Raffle. With the generosity of members & the public we were able to put together some baskets full
of
goodies. Thank you to all for helping us raise money to help brighten the lives of young children.
Country With A Kick, May 2012
This event is put on by the Northern Beaches Country Music Club at Balgowlah RSL every month to raise
awareness &
funds for the fight against cancer. With some boot scootin’, line dancing & lots of fun, it is a great
way to catch up
with
one & other together with a special guest all the way from Las Vegas Forestville Elvis ‘Ray’
Presley to perform
the marriage nuptials of two of our members.
The Funeral Of The Late Barbara Holborow OAM, June 2012
Former Children’s Magistrate, Barbara Holborow, passed away at the age of 81 after a short battle with cancer
on 23rd May 2012. Barbara was a great friend of NBSR & we loved her for her irreverent sense of humour &
the
difference she made in many children’s lives. Her philosophy was simple: ‘every child is everybody’s responsibility’.
We were deeply honoured to have been asked by Barbara herself to escort her casket on her final journey.
All
members of NBSR, past, present & future owe Barbara a great debt of gratitude.
We love & miss you Barbara!

War Vets Open Day, June 2012
This has become an annual event for our club. Meeting at the Terrey Hills Tavern, we were all keen to provide some
of our cherished Veterans with a day they would be talking about for a while. Upon arriving & with all doors open, it
enabled us to get the bikes into the rooms & allow those who wanted their picture taken on a bike to do so. This was
a great opportunity to sit down & get to know some of the residents & listen to their amazing life stories.
Winterfest Medieval Festival, July 2012
We headed off to Parramatta Park not quite sure what we were heading in to. What an atmosphere! As we entered
the gates we saw Knights on horseback jousting, pilgrims displaying wears, crafts, music, silverware, headwear,
predator birds, archery lessons, sword fighting lessons, drum lessons, not to mention a selection of different types
of food, something for everyone.

Variety Bash, August 2012
Variety NSW is dedicated to empowering children who are sick, disadvantaged or who have special needs to
live,
laugh & learn so when one of our members decided to take part in this year’s Variety Bash that would see
him
depart from Balmain & head off to Bamaga, NBSR was there to support & see him off.
Blood & Guts Run, September 2012
A picture perfect day with blue skies & a slight warm breeze we set off for our sixth annual ride to the Nepean
Donor Centre in Jamisontown to donate blood. Everyone was in fine form, plenty of laughter & jokes going
around, the BBQ was cranking, a ride or two had & bellies full of sausage sandwiches & milkshakes. This visit
brought NBSR’s total to 102 donations made to date, which could save the lives of 306 people.

Memorial Ride, September 2012
This month saw us remembering four of our much loved members & friends who are no longer with us. With
members gathering together for a nice ride to North Richmond Panthers it was a nice way to celebrate the
lives of those lost, never to be forgotten. RIP – Return If Possible
Fun...Raising Market Days, November 2012
This is one of our busiest months for fun…raising. These market days achieve numerous achievements not only
in raising money for our chosen charities but also the way our members all work as a team, together with the fun
we all have along the way.

Wasdale Street Christmas Party, December 2012
What a welcoming we received! As usual, a lot of kids & parents lined the street awaiting the arrival of Santa.
The children’s laughter & cheering could be heard a mile away, even over the noise of the bikes. Santa took
to his chair while greeting everyone & handed out presents & lollies to all the kids.
Thank you once again to all the residents of Wasdale Street that made us all feel so welcome & allowing NBSR
to be a part of their day. Hope to see you all again next year.

Christmas Party, December 2012
This year our Christmas Party was held at one of our member’s houses at Curl Curl. A nice venue for a party,
large yard, swimming pool & a trampoline, all the necessities for a bit of extra entertainment. A night of chatter,
laughter, games & a well prepared Indian selection for dinner. A fantastic way to end a busy & successful year.
Brewarrina Kids Ride, January 2013
What a way to start the year by taking some kids from Brewarrina for a ride. Although it was an overcast day we
still managed to ride to Narrabeen Lakes, Palm Beach/Summer Bay & to the Chill Bar in Avalon for a gelato &
coffee.

La Perouse & Onto Fish Markets, February 2013
With a few light clouds & blue skies we headed off to La Perouse where we took in the fantastic views & few photos.
It was then off for brunch at The Sydney Fish Markets.
