Youth Off Streets

YOUTH OFF THE STREETS has been providing services to assist homeless & disadvantaged youth since 1991. In order to break the cycle of disadvantage,
abuse & neglect, all young people need to be provided with the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

Newcastle Scoot & Skate, May 2008
This was a very special day for the Northern Beaches Social Riders. We travelled up to Newcastle from
Sydney in a convoy of bikes to spend a day with our three scholarship recipients, Brett, William & Josh.
This was the first chance for the boys to meet each other & do something different with us. We all headed
off to the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium at Warners Bay for what was to be a fun filled day with plenty of laughs
& a few bruises. A great ride there & back & overall a fantastic day.

Donation To Youth Off The Streets, April 2010
What a Night!! NBSR’s biggest donation yet!!!

The night began with a great turn out of people including some very special guests, starters for everyone to
snack on thanks to the licensee of the Terrey Hills Tavern, liquid beverages flowed, the sounds of chatter &
laughter filled the tavern.

Father Chris Riley arrived with his two beautiful Great Danes & t he kids & grandkids of all the members &
friends that were there on the night presented Father Chris Riley with a donation cheque of $40,000 on behalf
of all our members. It was a lovely sight to see all these kids with huge smiles on their faces & all keen to be a
part of the action. Father Chris then gave a very moving & inspirational talk that included thanking all the members
for their support. Truly a night that we will all remember as one of the highlights of NBSR.

Monthly Meeting, October 2010
As we were unable to meet Lachlan at this year’s Scholarship dinner he came along to our monthly meeting to
meet the members & tell us a bit about himself & how he came to be involved with Youth Off The Streets. He is a
lovely young man with a passion to pursue a career in the Police Force. We were also lucky enough to meet
Mohamed, the young Blacktown Outreach Youth Worker that NBSR has sponsored.

Northern Beaches Social Riders 7th Youth Off The Streets Scholarship
Recipient 2011/2012– Tyrone

Youth Off The Streets Scholarship Presentations, September 2011
With this year being Youth Off The Streets 20 th Anniversary the usual Scholarship presentations were not performed at
the recent dinner, but instead Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC, CVO, Governor of New South Wales, & Sir
Nicholas Shehadie, AC, OBE hosted the awards in the grounds of Government House.

This is where we met our seventh Scholarship recipient, Tyrone. His goal is to become a nurse & be a much needed
role model as an indigenous male, working in the nursing industry. He is a very nice young man who seems to be very
goal orientated & focused on where he wants to go.
